Do they have a "preferred" smog shop? You did everything you could.

Why did you not get it smogged at the dealer while you were there? Most dealers smog vehicles.

no the dealer is not a smog station. they recommended one down the road but they were idiots and i didnt even feel comfortable giving them my keys. No i can take it anywhere. I had a apointment with the smog ref tomorrow but canceled. I bought a CAT online and im going to try with the cat and once it passes take exhaust off and replace with 4". I was reading that california 7.3's came with a cat. however i have stock exhaust but no emissions sticker

automatic. that link says out of state had 250 hp and cali had 225

Just to be sure whether it needs a cat, look on the underside of the hood for a sticker like this. Very few need a cat.

Jody from DP Tuner will be live tuning at Terminator Engineering in Modesto Nov 7 - 11, might impact his schedule.

Washington truck doesn't matter. Some trucks have the underhood sticker, some don't. My California prepped 2002 F250 didn't have that sticker either. I got one for it though, through Ed when he was still PartGuyEd and worked at Ford.

Your 2002 didn't come with a cat. The excessive smoke you're having is from a different problem.
