Ok, here we go from the start. bought used 88 e-150. (DID SIT FOR A YEAR). Odometer says 9000, i guess thats 109000 or 209000. ran great for 2 weeks. i think i should check fluid since running so nice. i chek fluid. a little full, but not low so i dont touch it. go down the road and all of a sudden stuck in 1st. i do research. (remembering i have touched nothing except air cleaner to get to dipstick)
1. chek tv cable. all good. no slack, no tension, nothing broke.
cant actually chek pressure. auto zone dont have gauge and i dont have $, but ran great for weeks...
2. I run Seafoam in it. No change.
3. change filter, fluid, yes, old is dark and dirty, lotta metal flakes in pan (no magnet) No Change
4. take out VB and clean, very dirty. 1-2 shift solenoid is sticking, get it working.put back together. NO Change
5. checked cleaned put back governor. (was dirty and tight) NO CHANGE.
6. go and get 2 used trannys for parts.
7. changed governor for really loose one. NO change
8. Find E9 VB in 1 of used trannies. clean it. Great action. much better than other one. put it in. NO CHANGE.
Thats where im at now. is there anything else i can chek or try. or should i just try 1 of the other trannies? one was pretty. nice red fluid and filter. im pretty sure it will work, just gotta flip shifter arm around. i am in no way a mechanic, but its amazing what u can do with a laptop... my only fear with other tranny is that it did have some water in pan with oil... (not covered well). i have 3 jobs to do by nov.1st and no van! Thanks in advance for your insight and help!!! Oh, im a newb, so i dont know what hijacking threads and all thats about. if i offend any1 , sorry.
well, 62 people looked at this and not one reply.... what is the purpose of this forum? i thought people tried to help each other... 62 people and not ONE reply?
People shy away from replying when they have no solution. You've covered the usual items already.
First off, imo, your existing trans is junk and needs a complete rebuild and a bunch of new parts.
The one with red fluid but water....what year is it? '88-'93 are the better models. Did it come from a truck?
If you can tolerate the possiblilty of another R & R, I would try that one.
Do you know a trusted trans shop?
Also, the TV cable is critical, so try to figure a way to adjust it correctly.
And, if you do not have a torque converter for the "new" trans, buy a new or reman'd one, do not reuse the old one.
Be sure to flush your cooler out as well.
As for hijacking a thread, I looked at your other posts and do not see that. Starting your own thread is the best way to get some action, although it not a guarantee as you have seen......

OK, I looked. I read your post. I don't have any suggestions for you. I am not an expert on an AOD.
Did that help you any? Would it have been better if I just didn't reply at all?
yes, it did make me feel better, at least i know people are actually reading it.lol. thank u both for your replies. UPDATE: put the lucas to it. started working. drove about 10 miles and it went to crap. if i stopped for awhile i could put in 1st and go, but after 1/2 mile or any slight upgrade it wouldnt go unless i almost floored it. removed old tranny, switched linkage and tailshaft to used tranny (must have been from a mustang, shifter was up instead of down, shorter tailshaft), ready to install. Although I see now that I should not use old TC... I wa wondering about that... seems to be fine, but I should replace huh? I was also worried about cooler, I will try to find new one.. thanks again guys
thanks, i will keep updated... i did here steady "buzzing" in front of tranny that day, i wouldnt say grinding..., guess i will try to find TC 2moro, and clean cooler and lines somehow...
