I recently did a complete fluid change on my Aod trans and now it has absolutely no power at all. It seems to shift relatively fine under a very load but when the pedal is pushed to really make it "go" it won't go anywhere. It feels like it is slipping too. I installed a new filter and gasket as well. The fluid level is really close to perfect, well as close as I could get. My truck is a '88 F150 Aod 4x4. Any suggestions????? I am getting another trans to rebuild within the next couple of days but I had not planned on doing a rebuild so quickly. The trans seemed to shift and run pretty good with a few exceptions but not nearly this bad. I have reset the TV cable too. Anything?!?!?!?!?!?
Just to add it does shift a little harder than it did before too. I am going to take the pan down again and check to make sure that the gasket between the filter and valve body is where it needs to be. That is the only thing that I can think of right now. Anyone have any ideas?
if you didn't mess with the tv cable in the first place it should be fine. do you remember if there was a lot of particals in the fluid you changed? or was it burnt? if so you clutch packs are probly warn. the particals in the fluid helped the clutch pack bind and that they are gone there isnt enough friction to prevent the sliping.
The reason that I reset the TV cable is because it was acting up. The fluid looked rather clean and I did not notice any particles in the fluid. I was thinking that I may not have got that gasket that goes in between the filter and the valve body placed correctly. That is the only thing that I can think of that I may have done wrong.
oh i miss read that you did rest your tv, did you make sure that you did it right? i know i had to adjust mine after i rebuilt my aod, im not sure this i a good idea or not but i just messed around with mine untill i got it were i wanted it. you can try this but i have herd it causes premature tranny failure. if you want the correct way just type AOD TV cable on yahoo and a ton a site will come up? i hope this helps good luck
Thanks man, I will probably need it. I am picking up another Aod tranny tomorrow to rebuild but I hope that it is not sooner than it has to be. Thanks again. Anyone else have any ideas?
