Using longer rods won't stroke a engine...It only changes the angle at witch the piston imparts load on the rod..... When I put 6" rods and pistons with rist pins closer to the piston crown in a 350 chev engine that came stock with a 5.7 inch rods the engine will respond by having more torque from the rod moving at a more vertical angle than the stock rod. There are also changes in the piston speed during the stroke and the side force imparted on the cylinder wall that makes the engine have less HP loss to friction than with stock length rods. I heard this kits stroke was changed by offset grinding the crank for a longer stroke and custom length rods but I might be wrong. someone once posted info on this kit a while back, I don't know for sure....

sorry racer is more correct, a longer rod with a different crank makes a stroker. theres many ways, the point is the piston travels further. sorry again that was a quick post was in the middle of mocking up the turbo when i saw it.

everything looks like itll fit well except the intake hat is a little tall, i may have to cut and weld in a section to make it fit with the larger comp wheel

Yes they offset grind the crank (moves the centerline out) for the stroke and used rods with smaller journals.. i believe out of an Oliver. Came out to 7.6 or 7.7L

Id say great for a NA engine, but i wonder about the strenght on a turbo engine.

The cranks on these engines are pretty stout... but who knows how much the integrity of it is affected. It hasn't been thoroughly known how these stroker engines hold up NA due to the simple fact that there are not many out there. It is definitely worth turboing. I mean heck an idi supposedly can't handle more than 12psi. Lol.

well got the mock up pics loaded to photo bucket

the turbo hat interferes a bit with the turbo and fuel lines. does anyone know where i can get something made to space the turbo up just a bit?

the 4 inch ss pipe is part of a psd down pipe ( too big for the idi) and will become the air intake box.

im making a shopping list on summit right now for the few small things i still need. dp is going to be ordered friday.

finally back from the races. 300-350 miles averaged 10 mpg towing 10k+ with a headwind. and going down through pa was a lot of hills. well......................... its time to get this thing moving!!!!!!!! and the starter terminal (small signal wire on the starter) broke and is loose in the solenoid got to fix that too, anyone know where to get a new solenoid?

ill be getting everything taken apart and starting assembly on friday if the weather is nice.

would a short trip to the exhaust shop (less than 5 miles) really hurt anything without a down pipe?

started installing today. got the crossover pipe and the up pipe installed with some stuff moved around. the turbo will sit nicely after a few hours of hunching over in the engine bay theres got to be a better way to do this. anyway more pics sat or sun when everything is done.
