I need to send a largish package from the US to the Netherlands. 50lbs, measures 36x28x18". USPS tells me this package is too large to ship. UPS and Fedex want more than $800. EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS! For the slowest service.
I think it's the size that is killing it, not the weight. Does anybody know of any other option? Is there something I am missing from UPS/Fedex? I know it doesn't cost that much to ship freight from China, Netherlands can't be that much more!
What are you shipping? Shipments like that are looked upon as "exports/imports" and can be subject to sometimes hefty duties and taxes.
DHL or a freight broker might be able to help you with the commercial invoice and other paperwork to minimize your exposure to D&T and also VAT charges.
