I have a 1975 F250 4x4 and I am struggling to identify the front axle. I have been told countless times that the reg. cab "highboys" never came with the Dana 60F but my door tag indicates that the front axle is a 60F (Code P) but the axle itself says 6CF. What is the 6CF? I was told that its a Closed Knuckle Dana 44HD. if that is correct then why does my vin tag say its a 60F? The axles have never been swapped, I bought the truck from the original owners family who said other than a slight restoration of the interior and paint nothing had been done to it since new.

6CF = D44HD
The "P" code designating it a D60 is an error (there's a few threads in the archives on this matter).

1973/75 AXLE code P = Dana 44-6CF 4.55-1 with P/S: Isn't it the general consensus that the error in the parts catalog has to do with the 4.55-1 ratio and not the axle itself?

That's my understanding as well, the catalog page you posted shows the correct axle 6CF but the incorrect ratio 4.55
In the '75 shop manual it too list the "P" code as 60F, i don't know where the OP got the info to decode his VIN but it's the same bad info as in the shop manual.
(EDIT: if i'm reading the MPC correctly doesn't it state for '75 the "P" code could designate both a 6CF and 60F axle? which would be very confusing.)

P 73/75 4.55 3.5M Dana (Spicer) 6CF W/power strg.
--76 3.55M Dana (Spicer) 60F W/power strg.
If you knew the Ford and/or Dana ID numbers, you could look them up in the front driving axle cross reference guide (Text-Section 30 - Page 2).
What I see for (one example of each) 1973 6CF: D3TA-ZA - 603370-1 = 4.09-1 FRH No L/S / 1976 60F: D6TS-AC - 603664-2 4.10-1 FRH No L/S.
