Accessing headlight power source

2000 f350 CC 7.3L I am looking for some advice on the best place to access the switched feed for the headlights. I installed some glow shift quad pillar gauges. They have a seperate wire that when powered dims the gauges by about 30-40% that they recommend hooking up to the headlights. I left it off for a couple of weeks to see how bright they are at night and if it would be necessary. Well I finally decided to look or a spot to hook it up. Tried to access the back of the headlight switch but had some trouble getting it out. I also looked at the wires going into the driver side headlight and considered tapping in there. Wanted to know if the little splice connectors are a decent way to tap into and wire that already run or if it's not advised.
