Crew Cabs!
Fenders, doors, tailgate, SHORT bed and all replaceable, but finding clean ones are NOT easy.
The radiator support is SHOT, I would Guarantee it and it is OBSOLETE and finding a rust free one is dame near impossible without shipping one from the south.
Being a stripped out XL doesnt help either
I would not pay more than 4k
just wanted to clarify that.
i am not looking forward to a trans rebuild. $$$$$$$$
all in all these are great trucks. but take your time and find a nice one. especially if you're planning on picking up your girlfriend/ kids in it. I'm glad I did. if you can take a long weekend and get one from texas or az.
Aside from that heres the truck, the ad says 12000, though he wants 7000 for the truck
1997 Ford F250 Crew Cab Powerstroke Turbo Diesel an Rev 800 renegade
Anyways, I have almost the same truck, but it is a 1996 f250 cc, 4x4 xlt. I also did the D60. I bougth mine from a used car dealer in pepperel ma for $4000 with 216K or so back in 07. Rust is just going to be there. any new england truck is going to have it. you just need to look at it and decide where, how bad and if it is worth it. I saw that on cl also and thought it looked like a decent deal. If you really want that body style, you should do it, they are pretty hard to find and it already has the d60 done which would cost typically $1000-1500 to do. and mind sits about the same as that as far as distance from the ground. Body rust, some cutting and welding, or unbolt and replace. I only drive mine occasionally any ways. If you are looking for a daily driver, its your call. Pretty much guaranted the radiator core support is rusted or rotted, mine is, but still doing the job for now. As long as it runs and shifts good, those are the major things to be concerned with.
If you are from VT, stop over and visit the VT chapter forum and say hi. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...g-with-bs.html If you want to join put in a request.
but like I said, if it is what you really want, get it, those don't come along very often.
pict of mine
It all boils down to what you want and what you need. I LOVE my crew cab, but 95% of the time, I don't use the back seat. Its one of those things its nice to have when you need it. But at the same time, Id LOVE to have a reg cab, long bed dually as the daily driver and save the crew for weekends/trips
As many have said, look it over GOOD before purchasing. Its easy to get in over your head with these old trucks. Some are priceless gems and others are... priceless... in a bad way
