What is it Worth??

I have buddy that wants to sell his 1996 F250. It is the extended cab 4x4 with the 7.3 and the E4OD. The truck has 150K on the clock and has been well taken care of. He told me he has owned the truck for 15 yrs. The truck needs rubber and has a tear in the seat. Other than that the truck is very clean. The color is a two tone black and red. The seat is ripped a little on the side from the usual wear of getting in and out.

He told me he would like to get $10,500.00 out of it. I haven't checked the NADA book on it , but would imagine it booking for $7,000.00 give or take a couple hundred.

With that info do you guys think $10,500.00 is reasonable?

It's only worth the price that two guys can agree upon. Depends on your location, who's looking for trucks that day, and obviously the condition of the truck...

Seeing the CL post I linked to, maybe he's not far off. But just because he has it listed for $9950 doesn't necessarily mean he's going to sell it for that. So I don't have much to offer except watch CL, ebay, the classifieds and see what they're going for. If he thinks he has a better one, put a higher price out there. If it doesn't sell, lower it a few hundred.

It's kind of like appraising a house. They'll go through and get the details on the rooms, size of the house, types of appliances, etc. and then they'll look at some comparable recent sales. That's what really matters: what houses like it actually sold for.

Many people will tell you that's high, but it depends on what your comfortable with. I paid a little more when I bought mine 13 years ago because my friend owned it the previous 9 years and treats his vehicles very nice. If its super clean and has been well maintained I'd probably pay that or close to it.

LOVE when people have no clue what they are talking about. If that is a SHORT bed, I would LOVE to see a LONG bed

To the OP. Daniel hit the nail on the head. It is only worth what 2 people agree appon.

Personally I would not give over 5k for the truck.. But I dont like supercab long bed F250s w autos

As I keep saying people are going crazy with vehicle prices. I was looking at mid 90s Ford F150 4x4s. I need to look closer at mine & see where the GOLD & SILVER is located inside because the prices I see being asked the truck has to either have a bunch of Gold or it does things I'm not aware of.

I have seen 10 and 11 model F150's with 100k on the clock and the owners asking $20K-$25K for them.Seems kind of silly IMO.
