Clutch Bleed Gone Bad

I attempted to bleed the clutch today in my 88 F250. The Tranny was starting to grind when I attempted top place it in gear. The clutch would disengage almost as soon as I let out. Now the pedal is a lot softer. The first time I bleed it there there was no pedal. Now there is a little more resistance. But no were near where it was. I followed the instructions as per the Chiltons manuel. Never bleed a clutch before but I figured I have bleed plenty of brakes. So how hard could it be. Mamma was wrong again!!!

Any one have a better way? Also could my clutch be going bad or something else? Did I make the mistake of thinking that there was air in the lines? Thanks.

Sounds to me like your clutch plate is wore out.
