The previous engine just had very low oil pressure. It was burning no oil.
The previous owner sent me a video of the engine running in his truck. No mention of any of the problems I'm going through. I don't still have the video to go back and really look at it. He said the engine has sat unused for about year.
I cranked it yesterday and revved it pretty good -it wouldn't go over 3000 rpm's because it was cutting out. I thought maybe the plugs were oil fouled but pulled them today and they actually looked better than the last time I pulled them.
I will crank it again today after work and see how it does. I'm hoping it's just the rings not being seated!
I would take it out on the road (for that 50-75 mile drive) but am afraid of breaking down and the resulting tow bill!
But, if it does better today. I probably will venture on out with it.
Yeah, tow bills are rather high. I didn't say you needed to venture that far from home. Pick out a short-ish route that stays near the house, and run several laps.
