vacuum noise help

vacuum noise help
So I hear a whooshing noise coming from around my brakes under the dash that starts as soon as I start her up. The noise goes away while I am pushing on the brakes (brake pedal feels ok but brakes do not work as well as they did before sound started) and the noise also seams to go away if I am going up a slight grade with the RMP's on the lower side.
Talked to a shop and the guy said there is probably a large vacuum leak around the brake booster but it is probably not the booster its self but i have looked under the hood and maybe i am blind but did not see any vacuum hoses.
anybody have any ideas on where i should look and or what i should be looking for, a picture or diagram pointing to the general area would be fantastic.
