Project just hit another wall.
Tore the heads of my dad's low mile 6.9 and it had 7 melted pistons. Unfortunately the company that originally built the motor had bored it to 060 over and can't really find an affordable set for it.
Not sure what I'm going to do now.

Man, you are having a run of bad engine luck! What about boring it out to a 7.3 and getting a set of those pistons? Either that or start lookin' for a JY or CL 6.9 with a good block... sorry to hear that, I'm looking forward to seeing your build.

Get me the technical drawing of the piston and I ask the company I drive by every day. They make all kind of pistons, even custom to your specification. It is probably better to get another block, but if u insist on this one, I am sure they make the pistons for it. However it is in Europe, Czech Republic. If anyone has a tehnical drawing send it anyway, I would be curious how much would it be. We were once searching for a crankshaft for czech engine and found out japanese make the same for their engine, exactly the same. It was about one third more expensive but lasted about 5 times more. It was a bus engine. However back to the theme. Each time I get some engine, regardless wether it is lawn mover, chainsaw, car engine, and need rings or piston, they have it, there might be a chance there is some other engine in the world that uses the same pistons, you never know. The us and european markets are almost isolated, just trying to help. I am dreaming of crew cab SRW IDI 4x4 manual, actually member F834 is searching one for me. The tricky part is it has to be 83 or 84 only. It would be the only one here
