Nothing better than fresh sardines on BBQ or grilled...
you must try this...ask Portuguese people what the best ????
By the way, can of sardines in olive oil is the best, on broad with butter !

Since they are kind of expensive, I save them for a treat. The small King Oscar's in oil are my favorite; but all kinds are in my cabinet. With some cheese or dill pickles on any cracker and a Coke====Um-m-m-m.

I used to eat em like crazy when I was a kid, for years. Then one day I actually looked at them, sitting in their little can, all snug against each other.... And i've never been able to eat another one since.
I tried a few years ago (31 yr old now) and I still couldn't get past the look of em, i tried one, then tossed the can. hehe.
Maybe if they looked a little more like grilled lake trout, it wouldn't be so bad. hehe.

Do they still sell them with their heads on? When I was a kid, most sardines had their heads and that kept me from eating them. once they took the heads off and after I tried some, I liked them.
I like the little ones best. Some brands have great big sardines that seem less tasty and have bones in them. The little ones are much more tender and tasty I think.
