Are you using the stock ford coil or did you use a new coil? The stock coils don't work on 12 volts. They use an external resister circuit. Just throwing it out there.
Don't use that coil with stock points and no ballast resistor. And even then, 0.6 ohms is really low and you'll need a bigger resistor than stock. Only use it with the Pertronix Ignitor II and not even with the Pertronix Ignitor I without talking to tech support. You need a coil with about 3.0 ohms internal resistance to run points with no ballast resistor.
Sounds to me like you'd be better off returning everything to the place you got it and going straight through Pertronix. It doesn't sound like the people you're dealing with know what they're doing.

2X Guhfluh. Sounds like you did not get a whole kit. Something your supplier has robbed parts out of previously. If you got this stuff off EBAY be carefull in the future. Check pics closely and ask questions before buying. Don't trust everybody on EBAY. See Gangstakr's threads.

Sure does. I mean how hard can it be to order a Pertronix II for a Ford V8? It is only one part # that works same with the Pertronix I having just one part number. Anything else is not a kit for a Ford V8 with stock Autolite distributor. With the II you can use that Flamethrower II coil and with a I you can use the stock Ford coil.
Yes he sent me the one in the first link. I have discussed needing the full 91281 kit but he insists all I am missing is the ring which I now have. I'm trying to get a refund seeing as this is all due to their negligence in ordering things properly and holding out on really fixing their mistake. Its not an eBay deal but a deal with a vendor near me.

Okay if you screwed up and thought you were getting a good deal as it was cheaper
then welcome to the trinking world..God knows we've all screwed up one way or another. So return it and see if he exchange it for the correct one. Or just return it even if you lose money for a re-stocking fee. Then buy the right one from another vendor. But maybe cheaper just dealing with the first guy if you can would a deal with him..A lot of us guys are now using the HEI Dizzy but theres a few things to have to rework. Like longer carb & tranny linkage. A 1" carb spacer for the air filter to clear the dizzy. Add a #10 ga.12v wire for the dizzy. setup on a relay. But you need to have some skills at tinkering to get it install and running..
The Pertronix Ignitor III is a little better than I,II and the HEI dizzy is some what better then all the Pertronix Ignitor units in MOP and about the same price range..orich
Actually it sounds like it is the fault of the vendor and not the OP. The vendor seems to have had in is head what the OP needed and turns out the vendor was wrong. I don't get the sense that the OP was looking for the cheap way out but for the correct part for his application.
Don't mean to steal thread but have a question about why you have to have a different coil. I bought the Accel kit and never could get it to fire constantly. Ended up putting the points back on cause I had other things to work on. I grounded the thing straight to the intake manifold with a clean threaded bolt.....I have been looking at the GM style HEI dist. ebay since this didn't work.....
Had the same problem on my 65 F250 with Pertronics Ignitor 3. It won't fire, had to bypass the resistor wire from the ignition switch to get a constant 12v when the engine started, cause if you don't have full 12v when engine is running it won't !! Cause when the engine is running the voltage drops to the coil.

You don't have to use a different coil with electronic ignition. You can use the stock coil. If you use an aftermarket coil with too low of a resistance, it can burn up the points or electronic ignition you are using. The coil has to be designed for what you are using and have the correct resistance.
Your intermittent firing *could* be related to the bypass resistor dropping voltage when running and your ignition module needing 12v at all times, like the post above mentioned.
Pertronix I fine with stock coil and resistor wire. Run 2 of them
Pertronix II work ok with stock coil and resistor wire. I know as I have done it before taking out the resistor wire and putting in a Flamethrower II coil. Maybe overkill for an engine like a 360. Run 3 of them
Pertronix III mandatory with their coil and 12V. For a street car this is pretty much overkill. This Ignitor is at it's best at higher rpm's and even my modified Cougar rarely sees higher than 5000 rpm. Run 0 of them
All I did when I installed the original pertronix 1 on my 2 mustangs (2 and 3 are crap in my opinion) was take out the points and condensor and install the pertronix unit and then run the positive and negative wires to the stock coil. You don't have to change your stock coil. Ive been running my 2 mustangs this way for over 8 years now and I have had zero problems. You don't have to worry about a resistor wire and all that nonsense.
Found this youtube video. Even though its putting a pertronix unit on a mustang, its the exact same thing for this model truck.
