what transfer case has only high range 2wd and 4wd with absolutely no low range at all? are they valuable? are they rare? are they stout enough for playing in the mud..... all we know from the truck is it was a 72 f100 short and narrow that someone put a 302 in it has a 435 np tranny with c9 (1969) code but couldn't make out or find code on transfer case so what is it?
I would agree. Can't see them being of much value. They were paired with the NP435 having granny first gear so no real need for low range in transfer case. The divorced, 28 spline NP435 would be of more value. It's a popular swap in 66-77 Bronco's to match up with the Dana 20 for rock crawling and are getting hard to find.
The D20 from an early Bronco (not the Jeep one) will bolt in and give you a low range. The D21 is fairly stout since it's cast iron and all gear, but has it's limits. I don't think you will hit it's limits with a stock D44 front though.
The downside is that this is the only mated transfer case Ford used in a full size truck that does not have the standard 31 spline input and mounting flange, so nothing else will bolt in without changing the transmission as well.
