Emission System light came on.

I just bought this truck yesterday, it has no cat or muffler...the light came on after low fuel warning...filled up and light is still on...any suggestions?

Does the light look like a wrench or an engine?

You could swing by an auto parts chain store. They will usually check codes for free. The often use inexpensive code readers that will only report "generic" codes but 90% of the time that will get you on the right track.

If you plan on keeping the truck an OBDII monitor like ScanGauge, SCT, or Edge insight is the prefect FIRST accessory. There are smart phone apps that do a good job as well. unfortunately it is possible to seriously damage your engine with no indication anything is wrong if you trust the factory instrument panel to alert you.

Congrats on the new truck!

I haven't used it but here is the SG code for fuel level. If it reads screwy it would seem likely the fuel level sender in the tank is failed. I would look over the wiring as good as possible before dropping the tank.

FL
Fuel Level
TXD: 007E02216C1
RXF: 0462451606C1
RXD: 3010
MTH: 000101480000
NAM: FL

If you haven't messed with the SG before, here's a video of putting the codes in for the x-gauges. Don't forget the basic set-up menu and diesel A is the correct answer when you get to that option.

Entering codes on SGII
