Hi,have a 94.5 di,a little over 200,000 kilometers.Starts good cold, won`t start when warm, turns over good and will roll start when warm but need to leave sit for aprox half hour to start with key.Runs good when going.Just replaced lift pump and fuel filter to correct problem but no change. In the last few years truck sits without running on a regular basis.Fuel is fresh.Any imput appreciated, thanks.
Sounds like the orings on the your IPR have gone bad. It wont let the HPOP build pressure with warm oil. Cold oil wont bypass the o-rings as much and allows the truck to start. I've seen it quite a few times. Only other thing I can think of is maybe your starter is dragging?????
Thanks, not familiar with the terminology,I think the IPR refers to the injetion pressure regulator, whats the HPOP,any site where a person could find a breakdown with some pics, parts placement etc.
This is a link about the IPR. It is located on the high pressure oil pump(HPOP). It is in the engine valley to the front, right in front of the fuel filter housing.
I too had this same problem. What my problem was is the hpop (high pressure oil pump) the pump was going out after driving and warming up the engine the oil would develop air or foam. with this air or foam the starter would not turn the engine over fast enough develop enough pressure to fire the fuel injectors if the truck sets for a period of time the air would pop to the top of the oil and it will start.
after driving your truck check the dip stick looking for excessive air droplets or foam. it is also possible you just need to chage your oil and service it. may also add a defoamer to the oil, just a suggestion
