It is stuck on vent and will not switch to defrost. I pulled apart some of the dash and found the selector is not connected to anything.
I cannot find any cable or anything in the vicinity which is what I was hoping for (an easy fix-yeah right!). The cold/hot selector is connected to the cable that goes to the heater valve which is fine.
Does anyone here know what/where the vent selector on my control connects to?
Mine is stuck on the vent and won't switch to anything else. So, i'm in the same boat and as you. I'll be taking a look at it tonight when I get home. If I figure it out I will let you know, if someone doesn't chime in before then.
I checked the diaphrams and they are both working properly when I move my selector while the truck is running. Since it is stuck in the 'VENT' position I checked this out after pulling apart the dash almost completely.
The door was moving but was not snapping closed. There must have been a spring to assist snapping the door closed all the way because there is a provision next to the pivot pin for this door that attaches to the diaphram arm.
I found a weak throttle return spring about 2 inches long a attached it to the door near the pin and then onto the dash/vent housing.
It works right now!
I will put it back together soon and advise how it goes....
I haven't had time to look into mine. I will have to these out this weekend. I had my dash apart and repainted all the plastics and rhino-lined the cab. May have knocked off the spring or something. Don't want to have to take whole dash apart again though.
