driver's kick panel stuck??

driver's kick panel stuck??
the fresh air kick panel on my drivers side has been stuck closed since the day i got the truck almost a year ago. while i dont plan on opening it this time of the year, is there a good way to get this to open and close freely?

Your truck must have been built without factory AC. I would suggest taking the panel off and thoroughly cleaning it and the air channel behind it. It may be clogged with old leaves, etc. The sliding part may need lubricating. The screws which Ford used to attach the panels are v-e-r-y long. You have to work tediously around the parking brake pedal and sometimes it is easier to loosen it.
If you find debris behind the panel, use a shop vacuum to clean and then do the same to the passenger side.

It's probably got some sort of crud between the trap door and the plastic housing. Try spraying silicone spray in there and see what it does. Oh, yeah if you have to take it off. Ford used some sort of sealant on the threads for the kick panel. Made it REAL fun to take off.
