2000 F-250 7.3 Powerstroke 80,000 miles
My 4x4 front axel leafspring bracket is cracked it's the bracket that's welded to the bottom of the axle on the passenger side the crack is 1 1/2" long and runs from the top of the bracket down between the front u-bolt. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem or possibly alerting owners to check and please let me know I believe it to be a defect do to miss alignment of the front axel during assembly and would like Ford to repair the problem but if this is just isolated to my truck than it's my problem only.
P.S. This truck has never been off road I decided on the 4x4 package because you can never have to much truck.
The only time I've ever seen damage in this area are when a lower track bar extension bracket has been added. The lower track bar mount itself does not hold up well with the added leverage. I believe yours is an isolated problem.
I have heard of that problem before. You are talking about the leaf spring pad welded to the passenger side axle tube that also connects the sway bar and lower track bar (panhard rod) bolt.
