'98 Explorer electrical problems
Thanks to Rod (Shorod) I fixed a couple of nagging issues. My auto headlamp feature quit and my driver door would not lock with the driver door switch,keyfob or the door lock feature of the keypad. He sent me the prints back in June. I read all the threads I could find about the accordion boot and anything else related to wiring problems. Well, I couldn't find anything wrong at the boot,nothing visible,everything looked like new. I took off all the trim back to the RAP module and door lock relay near where the jack is stowed. Using the prints Rod sent me I found a continuity problem on the white with purple trace (W/P) for the door lock and also on the Pink with Violet trace (PK/V) for the auto headlamps. Both were factory splices that failed. The w/p splice is in the wire tray at the drivers door and you need to open the tray lid to find it. The PK/V splice is at the LR door just past the wire tray as the wire bundle turns in towards the other side. I took pics but I can't attach them for some reason. Anyway, Thanks for your help Rod.
