I bought a 1998 Ford F-150 and the previous owner had broken both door door locks out. I decided to replace them and found I had to replace the door handles and the locks themselves. When I went to replace the door lock I'm having all kinds of trouble figuring out where to put the door lock rod. The rod has a hook part and the other end is kind of pointed. The hook, I know, connects to the door lock clips. I can't find where it goes. There's a hole in the door latch where it looks like it should go but it won't stay. Does anyone have a picture of how the door latch connects to the door lock? I have a chilton but it doesn't any detail like I need.
let me know if you find something, I am in the same situation. I just can't figure out how it connects by the latch either.
I thought I had it once but it would only unlock, not lock.
I found this on Ebay it's for a 98 ford explorer but it's really similar to the f150. On the picture is a clip that looks it holds door lock rod in place. I think that is what I'm missing.

No clips needed. You post made me get off my butt and figure it out.
My problem was the rod was bent, so it would not work right. I compared it to the pass side rod and saw that. Once it was straight, it was much easier.
