Can this be fixed????

While trying to remove a broken off sending unit I broke the block. It's just water and I'm thinking it could be fixed.

The block has std mains and pistons so I'd really like to keep it if possible.

I'm fairly certain there is hope that it can be brazed back together. You need to take it to an automotive machinist for his opinion.

X2 Couple of methods can be used, but the key factor is finding someone with enough experience to do it correctly. My young son is learning from a long time welder in the fab shop he works at. He has done a few cast pieces here at home with success, but still has a long way to go.

It can probably be fixed, but my guess is you can buy another block for about the same money. ymmv

. I've fixed such things at home by heating the iron up first with a torch, then welding it up with the stick rods intended for cast iron...

Well got it welded up! Now to see if it'll hold pressure.

. Auto parts and farm stores may sell a generic nipple that is about identical to the factory one.

Nice looking job.
Question, is that a crack next to the weld going to the thermostat from the sending unit hole?

Thanks for the observation Tim but no it's not a crack. Cleaned it up and the line isn't there anymore.

Have a Great Thanksgiving!!!
