Yup, already done. Both axles have just over a gallon each of fresh 80W 90 in them. Yes, they were full of water too. Both rears had a half inch of muck in the bottom and when I pulled the drain plug, nothing happened. I had to dig out the holes with a screw driver. Then I flushed them out with fresh fluid until it ran clean and then filled them back up.
This thing was a real mess, but I'm almost done with the repairs.
More good news tonight. I started to indicate the cam. (measure the cam lift with a dial indicator) I didn't make it past the first cylinder before I realized the cam and lifters are also bad. That explains the popping through the carburetor under load. I guess it'll have to wait a couple weeks before it gets fixed now.
I guess if there's a bright side, after I do this, I'm done with the mechanical stuff. I can start to focus on the graphics and appearance. I want to change the interior around a little too. It has yellow inserts in the seat and I want to change them to red. (To match the new colors of the truck) I also need to weld some floors in this thing.
"Quad zilla" was black and yellow. "EQ" is black and RED. Just a subtle change here and there. I really hate yellow on vehicles. The only thing left to change color wise is the seat. ...and all I'm doing there is replacing the yellow inserts with red ones. The seat is still in amazing shape and it's done in marine vinyl like Alice's is, so there's no need to completely redo it.
Awesome build! I'm glad you made her look like a truck again as too many carve these all up for mudding(which I understand to lighten them up) but still it takes way from them looking like a truck.
