First off, Rich. Yes, the fuel cell works great! I made new mounting straps for it and ran all new fuel line. It has a complete new fuel system now. I got rid of a bunch of useless wiring and tidied up everything else. I converted the truck to Duraspark II while I was at it. (Rich, all that works well, too)
I have the winch, the remote charging posts, the oil pressure gauge, the tach, the volt meter, and the fuel pump all hooked up and working.
I still have to run new wires to the cooling fans and the water pump for the windshield wash system.
The good news is the hydraulic steering is hooked up and working well. I actually moved it forward under it's own power! ...one foot. ....I need more trans fluid.
Here's the engine compartment. MUCH tidier than the previous owner left it. (Look back at the way I got the truck with random wires strewn everywhere.) I also have proper brackets holding everything down/up.
.....and proof I drove it! (now it's pulled into the shop) Only around the building because the transmission is SHOT. 1st gear only. No 2nd, no 3rd, no reverse. At least I can tell the 460 has enough power to make this truck bark.
...and after 4 hours of pressure washing under the truck, I can finally see what I'm working with.
That's it for now. I'll have more pictures when I can get it outside more reliably.
I got the cooling fans hooked up and working tonight. It was funny to watch after I turned them. It looked like a wind tunnel with the dirt blowing out of the radiator cores in straight streams. Kinda like a smoke stream in a wind tunnel. Cooling shouldn't be an issue. There's FOUR electric fans an a S.C.S. radiator in the bed.
I've been slackin' on the pictures, but the new trans and transfer case is bolted into the truck! Everything is cleaned and painted, with new seals. This should be one of the last hurdles on the way to making this truck drivable.
What should have been a quick sprint to get running, has turned into a month long marathon. All the fluids have been replaced. The trans and transfer case have been replaced. The drive shafts have been rebuilt. The whole truck has been rewired. ...and I still have some tuning to do.
So far, here's what the new parts look like. Why did I paint the T case red? ....because I felt like it and I had the paint sitting on the shelf.
We have lights!!!
...and finally, a little time out to stretch her legs. (really LONG legs)
Alice has 3" of lift with 33's. .....Earthquake is a little bigger.
LOOKING GOOD ALAN.... sorry i havent been back your way but i see ya didnt need me anyway,,... will try to get up your way as soon as i can and see all the hard work ya got done
