I haven't seen anybody talking about this so please forgive me if it has already been discussed. On a whim yesterday I updated my CTS which probably hasn't been updated in more than 18 months. I was pleasantly surprised that the option of a manual regen is now available!
I played with it some yesterday and it looks like it works. The engine temperature must be at a certain level just like a normal automatic regen cycle and the truck has to be in park for this to work. Edge makes you answer about 8 questions before it activates the regen. Once it is activated, the CTS has its own dedicated screen format for manual regen. Idle speed goes up to 2000 rpm and exhaust temperature starts to climb. I wasn't in need of regen nor did I care to waste a bunch of fuel to satisfy my curiosity so I stopped the process.
I was disappointed that Edge still hasn't added any more PIDs for us to view. I would really like to have rail pressure available. Oh well, I guess I will just settle for what I do have access to for now.
Didn't work on mine. The Edge Fusion app reports no updates available for my Insight CTS and I don't have 'Manual Regen' available from the 'Diagnostics' menu.

What is your truck's build date?
Edit:
Updated mine for the first time since Sept/Oct 2011. It was stable so never wanted to update it.
Sure enough, manual regen is available in the options now.
If it works, good work Edge since my truck is one of those "it's not possible" builds.
Not sure how often I'll use it but at least it's there for the times when it keeps trying to regen in the woods.
Has anyone noticed any other improvements other than able to manuel regen. I'm like Kyper my Cts has been flawless I didn't wanta take a chance on messing that up.
I now remember that I was having trouble with my CTS in cold (0 degree) weather. Edge put a "special" update in the queue for me that resolved the problem, as they have for other folks with the same cold problem. Apparently these "special" uploads aren't being updated. I sent a message to Edge about it. I'll post their response here.

I was wondering about that. They did an update for me early on, but it only seemed to work temporarily. It is frustrating when it is 45 degrees and the stupid thing won't boot up on its own.
I also had edge send me a "special update" for my cts not starting in cold weather. Are you saying if I do this new update I will go back to it not powering up in cold weather?Dont want to update if thats whats going to happen.

I guess we won't know that answer until it happens to somebody. If you can give me a week, we are supposed to see the kind of temps that will make mine act up if it is going to. I may even put the CTS in the refrigerator overnight to see what it does in the morning! Hopefully the update has fixed that issue once and for all, but only time will tell.

I hope the temp problem didn't get introduced to mine.
I never had the issue, even into the single digits (which is rare down here).
I did turn on the alerts today for the first time.
Shut the truck off and it began squawking that boost was 0. No kidding...
I'll probably turn those off. Ha.
