Headers Question
Hey guys I have a 76 f150 with a 390. I just got a great deal on a set of flowtech headers. I have a few questions. How hard will the install be I read that you had to jack up the engine on some threads others I read all you had to do was drop the starter and clutch linkage. Secondly I was wondering if I would have to have them welded under neath since the piping looks to be smaller where the manifold connects to the piping. I'd appreciate any advice,

Here is an example of what you need to connect, usually welded to existing exhaust pipe after cutting pipe to length, but have seen them connecting with" wrap around" clamps if you have a straight connection. These are ball and socket, others are fixed. Hedman 21115 Hedman Header Reducers

FYI...If searching/Googling, it's called an exhaust band clamp.. two versions - stepped for slip joints and straight for butted:

Thanks guys that helps me a bunch. Do I need to drop the starter and clutch link to get my heAders in. I've read people saying they had to loosen the motor mounts and jack up the engine

I have a 75 f100 4x4 with the 390. I also installed flowtech headers on it a few years back. All that you need to do is remove the clutch linkage and starter. No jacking up the engine is necessary. I had to put a ding in one of tubes on the passenger side that rested on the starter.
