It isn't an issue under load, and probably wouldn't be an issue for an automatic. However, in 1st/2nd gear it takes such little power to move the truck that if you bump the throttle, hit a bump or anything it causes your foot to bump the pedal, even when I let off when it continued some. I put an extra spring on, we will see if it helps. I thought of going for a 3200 rpm gov spring but apparently that makes the throttle even more sensitive.
The yoke is the only thing that holds the speedometer drive gear in place, I can remove the yoke, fish out the drive gear and install an 8-tooth gear which will get the speedometer pretty close. The gear is part # 1307204048.
I haven't drove it much, I have maybe 170 miles on the tank (it still shows a little over 1/2, which doesn't mean much) but can't check the MPG anyway with the speedometer wrong, and the fuel tank leaking.. plus a little from the return line to rubber hose. Another thing to note is that I installed an extra spring to return the throttle, which helped with the throttle sensitivity.
I received the parts to make the speedometer read correctly. The driven gear is just a 16-tooth gear off of eBay (~$9), and the 8-tooth drive gear is Ford E8TZ-17285-D ($35 on ebay). I then ordered the output seal for the ZF, which is Timken 225010 ($6-7 on Amazon), it will be here soon.
The only thing to do after that is to pull the driveshaft and see how hard it will be to remove the yoke without turning the engine.
