Hey Everybody i just stepped up from an IDI to a stroker i gotta say i love it but the PO did a lot of stuff that im just noticing that i didn't see when i first purchased it, anyway i bought a Edge CTS Insight and i cant get the OBD to power it up and i know it works cause ive plugged it into a few other vehicles and it powered up fine, anyway i replaced the fuse but still have no power to either the OBD or the Cig Lighter. Any help would be super appreciated because im lost when it comes to the computer stuff being as this is the first vehicle ive owned with one, the truck is a 99 F250 with a 6 speed with 114k by the way LOVE IT!
At least this one is easier to chase down - you'll know right-quick if you fixed it. The cigarette lighter always has power, and no power after replacing the fuse (probably blown again) likely means something on that line is shorted. Is anything plugged into the lighter plug? You can pull that section of the dash to look for wires out of place (maybe from a botched electronic device install).
Thanks for responding, i was fixing to pull that part of the dash apart i have my phone charger plugged into it just so i can see the light come on when it gets power to it, and the fuse is fine i keep checking it everyonce in a while to make sure while im fiddling around, is there a fuse under the hood possibly that could be causing it?
First make sure you're pulling the right one. It's fuse #3 under the left side of dash and should be 20A. The reason I say that is that if the fuse is good then the cig lighter should work as whatever is plugged in automatically grounds on the sidewall of the lighter. The DLC connector has two separate ground wires you could check. One is black and grounds on the left side kick panel and the other is black/white and grounds on the left side of the engine compartment.
sorry it took me so long to respond been on the road. i traced all the wires that i could think to trace checked all the grounds finally ended up running a new power wire with a fuse block to the #16 pin (bottom right) which according the diagram i found was the power supply and it worked got the edge running and i love it, turns on and off with the key and everything. thanks everyone for your help!
