If you are using the "A" measurement from the catalog you posted that is the yoke outside dimensions and not the u-joint with caps. That picture does not give a measurement for the cross w/ caps. I think that is where your confusion is coming from. That picture does not take into account the fact that caps are recessed into the yoke.
