Trouble finding ujoints.....
Are they originly one size on all four caps, or different sizes for driveshaft and tranny yoke? And any help locating one would be great. Thanks guys.
Travis
we can probably tell you what U joint you need. This one from O'reilly for Example ( This one is for an automatic transmission if yours is manual you might need a different one):

Spicer U-joints, Universal joints, Driveshaft, Axels
That is if you can't find one at the local auto parts store.
hope this helps solve your problem.
Here are pictures showing the 2 major types of u joints and the main dimensions you will need to measure to find the right U joint

Your yokes will probably be a different style than shown here but the Idea is the same.
Front drive shaft 265 at axle, 270 at case
Rear driveshaft 270 at case, 265 at axle.
I used them federal mogul ones, if i had a chance i'd probably switch back to spicer: Blew 3 caps on the front wheel-ujoints #377, they were cast metal.... harder than heck, but no give to them. Hard might be a good thing once they are installed though and are running fine so either way lol. once on they were great
i dont remember if the snap rings were inside or outside. both are 1330 series...
the 270 is spicer 5-1330X maybe:
Universal Joint Style 1330
Bearing Cap Style 4 plain
Bearing Cap Diameter (in) Axis 1 1.063-1.064 in.
Width Overall (in) Axis 1 3.622 in.
Bearing Cap Diameter (in) Axis 2 1.063-1.064 in.
Width Overall (in) Axis 2 3.622 in.
and the 265 is spicer 5-793X or maybe 5-792X:
Universal Joint Style 1330
Bearing Cap Style 4 plain
Bearing Cap Diameter (in) Axis 1 1.063 in.
Width Including Clips (in) Axis 1 3.622 in.
Bearing Cap Diameter (in) Axis 2 1.125 in.
Width Including Clips (in) Axis 2 3.622 in.
mines an 87' but should be about the same afaik

once you find what is there it can be cross referenced to what ever is available locally 2 things I look for with u joints is a grease Zerk and a lifetime warranty. It doesn't matter whose u joint you get if they are not installed right you are going to have problems and some times that is a lot easier said than done.

Also, the hole for the grease zerk is a weak spot: The joint should be installed so that when driving forward the stress on the joint is trying to compress the area where the zerk is, not trying to stretch it...
