Smile Crankcase Breather

Hi, just want to say Thanks for the advice, I installed the crankcase Breather and did not remove the PCV Valve and the Truck Ran great all Day and I did not see any more oil out of my Breather cap. So I guess that did the trick. Only problem that was a little temperamental was the Breather case with the gasket, I put it on and it did leak oil out of the seams so I had to take it off again and reseal it with RTV and I let it set and that did it... So hope it continues working fine, now my Y Block is breathing LOL!!! Thanks again.

Good that helped but it may just be a band-aid. If you have that much crankcase pressure the rings may be going or gone, keep an eye on the oil level.

Hi, Yes I will keep an eye on it, I drove it around town today with the wife and two kids for about an hour and 1/2 and when I got back home I checked everything out and No more oil out of breather or engine for that sake... and she ran like a CHAMP!!! plus the weather down here in Florida is beautiful now i'm sure that helped. So I will keep my fingers crossed and my eye sharp on it. Thanks again.

Smile Alignment/Rims & Tires

Hi, I'm researching Rims & Tires for my 1958 Ford F250... (aftermarket black color rims) Can anybody tell me how Big of a rim and tires I can put on it without having to lift my truck???? Any suggestions from anybody who has done it already to these older Ford Trucks, Also when I do, does anyone know IF or HOW to do an alignment on these old Trucks??? not sure these newer shops know how to since they work on these new cars now a days. Any Advice would really Help. THANK YOU...

7.50 x 16 was an original size, so any similar diameter tire will fit. One option (at least in 59 and 60) was an 8 x 19.5 tire and rim as were some 17s. With the F250, your 8 bolt pattern was used for years, so there should be a wide availability of stock style tubeless rims that will fit.

I think you find there is enough room for fairly big tires as long as the backspacing will let the tire clear the tie rod ends. Mine is an F100 but I have always had 10.5x15x31 with stock suspension. Try to find a truck shop that does big trucks with straight axles for the alignment.

Hi, It has 17.5 now, I like the look but I want to BEEF it UP a bit and put something wider definitely and if I can bigger. I'm still researching it but from what I see it's a little complicated with measurements, back spacing ETC... you know?? YES it is 8 Bolt rims...Hopefully like you said their is a wide availability of product for my year Truck... OK Thanks for the response.

Hi, Yeah I think their is enough room, but I guess I need to be sure. I was gonna buy some rims online with tires but I scratched that Idea since their is more to it. I see your measurements on your rims and tire their, Don't really know too much on how to read these measurements but is that 10.5 your rim width??? Because I would love too be able to upgrade to 10 inch Rims and Tires, and have ENOUGH ROOM for it... I Checked out the two pictures of your Panel Truck and that is the look i'm looking for BEEFED UP Tires and RIMS, Looks Good Man!!! THANKS !!!!!

Andre @ Stockton wheel service here in Stockton CA is a great source for custom made wheels. They can accommodate anything you can imagine. They have made wheels for project trucks featured in Four Wheel Drive magazine.

Ken @ American Wheel Barn in WA is a great source for older stock steel wheels as well.

Joe

10.5 is the tire width as are the other dimensions. I wish I could remember but I had the wheels made back in 1977-78 and its all kind of fuzzy now. They may be 8-9" wide rims, I think they used some Jeep outer and Ford inner pieces the best I can remember.

I had wheels made for my 66 F250 and I used 12x16.5 and that was 1972 but took them off because you can't find 16.5 tires any more. Last year I had a hard time finding the 10 x 15's, I use to use BFGoodrich T/A but they don't make them any more either . Every one wants to sell you the big ugly 18-20" shiny type stuff which looks like crap on a classic truck and I have better things to do then polish chrome.

Hi, Yeah I Like Black Rims I don't want to be polishing chrome either and shiny just doesn't do it on my Truck, PLUS the Black looks better and easier to maintain. I Really like Goodrich T/A's but yes they only have standard 15 inch rim sizes what a shame... You know their is a place down here in Florida in FT Lauderdale that is called "BOULEVARD TIRE CENTER" and they do carry Road King 16.5 Tires, I think the price was $125 per tire, they have all types and sizes because they deal with all types of Trucks from Small to VERY BIG. If you are ever interested again here is the phone # 954-792-7799 or 954-895-1553 & the guy I dealt with was called "ANTHONY IZLAR" very knowledgeable on weird size tires. I'm sure they can ship.... FYI

OK, thank you for that information, unfortunately I changed to a 16 x 10 rim and tire on my F250. I still have the 12 x 16.5 rims in the garage at my sons house..
