need link

there was a discussion sometime back on grounding the alternator for better performance. Have not been able to find, would someone either provide link or just a refresher on the procedure?

I just installed new high output alt and wired the battery in with another kit, but maybe need to follow up with the grounding/bonding?

TIA Hank

I sorta remember. I think that was referred to as the "Big three" maybe? Here's a link (from another forum). lookin 4 "Big 3 upgrade" pics- - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

From the main forum page if you tap SEARCH in the thin blue menu bar on the main forum page a window drops down. The last selection there is ADVANCED SEARCH. Select that and there is a place to type what your looking for. You can also search by who posted if you remember you posted the info you're looking for. Further down you have an option to search all open forums or just certain ones. For example if you know the info is in the 6.0 forum, uncheck ALL OPEN FORUMS scroll down to the 6.0 forum and put a check there, close the window and press search.

A good tip is to use quotation marks on the words or phrases you are searching for. For example if you put -big alternator- in the search field it will return results for all posts with the words big and/or alternator. Pretty much useless results as the word big will be in hundreds of posts, but if you search -"big alternator"- the results will only list posts with both word together. (Don't use the dashes in the search field, I just used them here to make this post easier to read)

Also, you can google stuff 6.0 related and it will often have results here at FTE.

I don't think this is the post but you might get some info from it.

One thing to do is just add an extra ground wire from the bolt to the frame/engine.
That will add a ground path. Also removing the alternator and cleaning the mounting
points on it, the bolts and the engine would help some. You could add a dab of dielectric
grease to the mount points when you stick them back together to exclude any water
and corrosion products from the contact points.
