Electric Fan Help

Hey every one. Just looking for some fast advice for a light duty F150 upgrading to a electric fan. I did this mod on my MJ and it seemed to help a little bit so hoping it will be a good investment here.

First off where is a good location to tap into for a temp sensor. I do not like using fan controllers that attach the probe to the out side of the radiator since they tend to not be accurate.

Second what is every one running. I am assuming duel fans off of a Taurus but wondering if any one gets away with a aftermarket single.

Any advice is welcome.

1988 F150 4.9 5 speed.

Thanks for the help. I guess I should have been more specific.

On the 4.9 where would be a good location to tap or a coolant sensor to control the fans.

I would think the first thing you would want to do before doing an electric fan swap is to do a 2g to 3g conversion on your alternator. The electric fan swap has the potential to really increase the load on your alternator, so you might want to make sure your alternator can support the load before adding it.

I know this thread is old, but I think I have a way to use the factory PCM to control the fan, if you are interested. With a custom chip, I can turn on the electric fan control logic in the computer. And i can adjust the fan on/off settings. What I'm not sure about though, is if the drivers are actually physically there in the computer.... and what pin the fan driver would be on. But if it worked, nothing beats OEM fan controls.
