I think I'll let it go till spring. Then I'll have to shave, it'll simply be too hot in the summer carrying mail.
I keep my beard between 3/8" and 1/2" in the summer, and 1/2" to 1" in the winter. That summer length is long enough to look like a beard (as opposed to the "I haven't shaved this week" look of closely cropped beards) and I haven't found it to be too hot. In the winter, I let it grow a bit more and it does keep my face warmer. Someday, I intend to let it grow to a full 4" to 6" beard. Since it turned white some years ago I'm going to double as Santa Claus all winter.

I keep thinking about this thread- Who else kept theirs?

Crappy pic, I know. The camera couldn't handle the beardy goodness.

No pic, but unfortunately I can't grow mine out too far, grooming standards for the job.

Your job requires you to keep it short, my genes prevent me from growing it long

I can't get more that a few inches long and it tends to get patchy on my jawline. I generally keep it to a "thinned" goatee look.

This is the first time I've really grown it out and it's a pain at times. I get looks and comments quite often, most positive.

I just shaved mine off for the spring. It's too hot to wear a full beard and carry mail when the weather breaks.

2.5 weeks to go for me. I can't wear one when it's hot out, either. I shave mine for Easter. My wife is starting to threaten to take some scissors to it while I sleep--I haven't trimmed it since I started growing it in mid-September (it's a solid 3.5").
