I was mandated to grow a full beard once, and it drove me bat**** crazy--I will never do so again. A long goatee is good enough for me; I've had it as long as three inches, but currently keep it just under an inch.

I haven't trimmed my beard since this thread was started. It gets tangled in my chest hair now but my wife likes it.

When this thread started, I grew a goatee and everyone liked it. After Thanksgiving I shaved my goatee and started growing a full beard. Of course at the age of 52, it's all salt and pepper but the compliments I'm getting are really cool.

I think I'll let it go till spring. Then I'll have to shave, it'll simply be too hot in the summer carrying mail.

Yup beards are manly, oh wait if ya have to wave a sign to tell people how manly you are. ..... maybe you're not all that secure haha. Maybe you're just compensating ;-) If you like it and you can do it, fine. Some people can't because of work( firefighters and most oilfield guys) I certainly don't think firefighters aren't manly because they don't have beards. I've had one in the past and when I get out of the patch I might let it grow. I'm just lazy enough to not shave if I don't have to. At the same time I've done without for so long it would probably drive me crazier than I am.
