I've had a mustache since I graduated from boot camp in '79. Since retirement from the CG, I've had a goatee a few times but it's all grey now and it makes me feel older than I am.
I've had a "circle beard" for many years. I can't grow it in fully enough on my cheeks to make a full beard so, I settled on the "circle". I had let the goatee part of it grow out long before, but it became too much of a hassle so, I trimmed it back...
My facial hair is red - redder than what's on top of my head - well, it used to be - it's slowly being replaced with white hair (I'm bypassing "grey" and going straight to "white" LOL.)
Mine did the same thing. Took about 6 months to go from a dark brown (almost black) to near white. The change happened so fast that I never even noticed a gray, though it probably did happen.

Winter only here. I start growing it around October 1, and shave it off for Easter. I absolutely cannot stand going more than a couple days without shaving during summer. Most of the time I keep the beard trimmed, but I have let it go 6 months with only trimming the mustache (don't like the mustache as a condiment). I may do that again this year.
I keep a buzzcut on top, which is darker blonde. My beard is more reddish brown, but there are getting to be more than just a couple gray hairs on either side, just below the chin.
I used to shave in the summer but I got married in the month of July and my wife wanted me to keep it so I didn't shave that summer. I've kept it on since.
Since this thread came around, my wife has clearly stated that shaving means I get to sleep on the couch.
I think the best part is that I can go for a week without doing any sort of facial hair maintenance and nobody can tell.
