VHT coating?

Was wondering if anyone has had any luck with the VHT ceramic spray on coating? I was considering spraying my exhaust pipe from the end of the headers all the way back. That way they wont rust or look like crud when they start rusting. The stainless pipe my shop used for the current exhaust is rusting in places. No idea why makes no sense... But for the 445 Im doing all new exhaust back and seeing the stainless apparently isn't 100% stainless id like to coat it with something silver.

Well there's different flavors of stainless and its usually the contaminated carbon steel that gets on your stainless that will start it. 400 series is not as corrosion resistant as 300 series. If your tools have touched carbon steel and then you rub it on your stainless items, you'll get rust.

Regarding the spray, if you are talking about something from an aerosol can then I've heard of "okay" results when it's applied correctly, then baked on (in an oven). If you are just scraping clean and then spraying, I don't think it will last very long.

Anywhere I should look for some better grade stainless pipe? For the angels and all I was going to get the flowmaster 3" u do it pipe kit in stainless.

And well it gives directions on how to do the spray when it wont fit in an oven. And it would be on brand new pipe before I install it so I don't think it would flake off.

Most muffler shops will use aluminized steel exhaust which may be one reason. It's cheaper, lighter, looks like stainless but cannot be polished and under normal conditions will never rust out. It will rust if scratched. In fact, the shop I use guarantees it for life, and I've never had to take one back. VHT has not worked well for me on headers. (about a year). I would not recommend painting the whole exhaust system with it.
