getting ready to buy an 88-92 Bronco. I'm looking for a 351. How can I tell if the trucks I look at have a 351 or 302?

By the "5.0L" or "5.8L" cast into the top of the plenum or by the 8th digit of the VIN.

So far, I haven't seen anything cast into the upper plenum indicating motor size.

Some upper intakes (plenums) have the engine size cast in; others don't. You can also find the engine size next to "Engine Family" on the bottom of the emissions sticker in the engine compartment.

All you really have to do, regardless of year model or make is look at the intake manifold. 351W's have a taller deck height which requires the intake to be a few inches wider than a 302's.

But how can you compair one with the other if you don't know what they look like.

1985-1988 5.0Ls and 1988 5.8LS, said Electronic Fuel Injection, nothing else.

True. I guess its been too many years since I wasn't familiar with one or the other to think about it that way.

Oh yeah, I have a 86 intake in the garage that just says that. Forgot about the early ones. I was picturing it being blank in my mind.
