"Blown" wouldn't be an accurate description - "loose" is the issue. I was talking to a diesel mechanic that works on Internationals (including the T444E) and he said those UVCHs go out all the time. We already know this is a hot topic here as well.
There is a rule in electricity - make the connections secure, or you will get arcing and damage. Once you have damage, the connections are no longer viable and the only solution is to replace them (both ends). The original design does not hold up well in it's environment, that's why they changed the design. When I did my UVCHs as a precaution, I tried the fifty-cent mod... which failed. I then got new connectors and valve cover gaskets and those bad boys really gripped, they are now very difficult to unplug... plus the locking mechanism is more secure than the original design.
That's my long-winded way of saying your IDM is fine - it was the UVCHs that were the problem.
Thanks Tugly! By "Blown", I just mean that they came unplugged. I was never too crazy about putting quarters under the valve covers just in case they decided to come out. I went ahead and replaced the gasket and wire loom on both sides for better peace of mind. Just trying to figure out why my truck runs good sometimes, and other times it feels like the engine wants to come out from under the hood.
I will try to pull some codes tonight with my AE. If nothing comes up, then I'll take sone live data and post it up here. Maybe someone will see something out of the ordinary.... I hope..
I have not had a chance to run my AE yet but noticed while checking my oil today that it was very low. Where is my oil going? It's been 2700 miles since my last oil change with Rotella 15-40 and no oil leaks at all!
Im getting ready to change my oil and I checked it. Now it reads too high! I put 15 quarts in when I changed it before and haven't added any since. I'm lost here.... Anyone?
