Today, I fixed all of my actuators with the 2 3/8's mod - that's 2 and 3/8's of a penny.
Afterwards, I went through the string of numbers to find the main code for the keypad. The first code I found was a user code and the second was the main code.
I was able to delete the user code as it doesn't work anymore BUT I cannot get a new code to be programmed! I know I am using the correct method as I tried it on my 2003 F150 and set the 2nd code to the main code for the Ex. So, the procedure works, but not on the Ex??
I entered the main code followed by the 1-2 and then entered the new user code but nothing happens when I hit the 5th digit in the sequence.
I did find out today that the unlock switch on the drivers door doesn't work, would that have anything to do with it? The switch in the door will lock the doors but not unlock them. I am wondering if I need a new switch but I'd like to test it for sure before I spend the cash. I spent a whooping 2 and 3/8's cents today so I'm trying to be cheap to make you guys proud! lol
So, the unlock side of the driver's side switch is inop and I can't seem to get the keypad to create a new user code - I'm stumped...
Could be...the one thing I have found is that this Ex used to have a remote start system and the there are lots of loose wires hanging around under the dash. I'm still trying to sort through them all and make sure I have a "stock" base to work with. I'm going to have to find a wiring diagram and start tracing wires...
Mine came with a remote start, too. It works well, but, I don't have a manual for it. It has the auto lock feature that I want to disable. Every time I turn the key on, the doors lock. Very annoying.
It's a bad switch... I took the one from the passenger side and plugged it in and it works. I tested all the wires for power and ground...all is good and matches the pass side. The drivers side switch also did not work on the passenger side so I think I can conclude the switch is bad.
I opened up the switch and cannot determine the cause of the failure...weird.
The numbers stamped on the switch (driver side is a red switch, passenger is black - as the U and L on the button are upside down from one another) are:
XL1T-14963-AAW
991027 BL3B
Ok...I've gone through all the wiring and cannot figure this thing out... I've been able to use the keypad for everything but programming a NEW user code??
Anyone know where the control module is for the 2000 X?
If there was an issue with it, how can it be that everything works EXCEPT programming a new user code?
