Ok, so I posted a few weeks ago I had a 1 6 pats code.
I have a 2000 ford excursion V10 . When I turn the key I get a rapid flashing theft light. No check engine light or engine light. I have check all my fuses in the vehicle unless there are hidden ones. My code reader and my tuner says no connection. They do power up but it just can not link. I did jump the relay for my pcm. Then my pats light does its check and shuts off then I get my check engine light comes on and does not shut off. I did get one code the P1000 code and the vehicle still will not start. As soon as I put my realy back in the pcm it goes directly back to the way it was. So my thought is that my PCM is not powering on. What can cause this? any ideals?
Does anyone have anythoughts towards this. Anyone in or around Killeen tx that has a bybass tuner? I need some help because I don't have the money to take this to FORD.
I have 2 2000 excursions. Both have experienced the rapid "theft light" flash and no start. On one we had the ignition switch and PATS replaced to the tune of $500+. While the occurrence of the problem was less, it still happened. One of the service techs said that there was a problem with the 2000 year model only. And all you had to do was when the theft light flashes fast, turn the key back to off for a few seconds the back to on, and it should go through the normal sequence and start right up. So far that advice has proved good to go.
You've already confirmed that you have a PCM power problem. It's time to break out the meter and the schematic so that you can see what is wrong. It might be a relay, fuse, diode, fuse box, ignition switch, wiring connection, etc. The voltage readings will guide troubleshooting.
Back when we bought our EX 3 years ago I had exact the same problem.
It turned out that the batterie was kind of shot. Strong enough to crank the engine, but something in the PCM was underpowered.
I changed it and since than, we never had ay issues with that again.
.....but to be honest, I never knew exactly what it was.....whatever.....shes reliable since than.
