Hello All and thanx in advance for any help you can give. Here's my issue:
A week ago my ex just died while driving. Theft light flashes rapidly then gives the code 1.6. So, I think Pats has problem, key, communicator, whatever. Then I think, I don't want pats anyway and I've wanted a tuner for a while now. So I get a custom Tuner that will tune the vehicle and disable pats. Great right! Wrong! I finally got 1 tune to load, the ex still will not start. And now the tuner cannot take the vehicle back to stock and I'm staring up the short end of a tow to the dealer. Not cool. So here's my newest thought and looking for advice on this one before I go ahead. Maybe my ecu is just shot. Oh, by the way my tuner will not read any dtc either. Here are my questions.
1. So if the ecu is shot I replace it right?
2. If I do can I use a v-10 sd ecu that wouldn't have pats?
3. If I do that can I re-flash that to run my ex?
4. If the sd ecu is not an option can I swap to an ex ecu?
5. If I go with the ex ecu do I need to flash it to work in my ex?
Any, other tips and advice would be most helpful. I need my ex back badly!
Thanx again.

I know the key is married to the pats so that may be part of it. I know when i tuned my 2000 psd ex there was a secial process with pats equipted systems. Something like turning the key to on but not starting it for 90 seconds for it to learn.
Since PATS cannot cause a running engine to stop running I'm simply going to say that you misdiagnosed the original problem then applied the Band Aid to the wrong item.
Interesting. I didn't know that PATS could not cause a running engine to stop. Then why is my theft light blinking an error code? Maybe the issue is really a bad ecu and the theft light blinking is really a brainfart from the bad computer? Any thoughts on that idea?
No, still don't have the excursion up and running. Checked the fuses and for loose wires and still can't find anything.
Anyone, know a definite way to check if the pcm/ecu is bad?
I tried the scrap yard figuring for $25 bucks I could test out my theory of reprogramming a different computer. No, luck. The yard man looked at me cross eyed when I said I was looking for a v-10.
So, yeah probably looking for a new pcm/ecu.
Any other suggestion on testing the computer I would love to hear.
