4x4 not working

No, I kind of wanted to do this next though. Anyone got a picture of them so I know for sure what I'm looking for?
Oddly these lights on the dash do not light up with the rest of the cluster when I initially turn on the key. They were on once I engaged the transfer case manually with my test so I know they work. Does anyone else notice their 4x4 light not coming on upon key on?

Ok Clay well i eliminated everything on mine and found out it was in fact the GEM or module whatever you want to call it. The dealer wanted an arm and a leg for a new one so i found a place in Texas called auto part cheaper. They were a lot cheaper then the dealer and better quality and i got in 4 days swapped it out and now my 4 wheel drive works great. Good luck.

Yes i tested my actuator at the transfer case it worked when bypassing everything. Swapped out relays, checked all fuses and no power anywhere. Plus the GEM also controls a lot of other stuff not just the 4 x 4 it controls your keyless entry and some other things as well and my keyless entry was also acting up. I ruled out everything but the module and went ahead and ordered the new one which is under the glove box and it took 5 minutes to change out and after installing the new 1 everything works great. I highly recommend you don't buy one from the dealer though. The have continued to use the crappy parts that always go bad. Good luck Clay my bet is the module is bad.

I dont recall hearing about this GEM. What is it. Maybe I need to read back through this thread...its been a few days since I started this. Everything else is working properly, keyless entry is fine. Hmm? I will have time to mess with it this weekend (3 days off) after servicing the transmission in my sons new 2001 Ranger. There just isnt enough time in the week lately.

Hey Clay if you open your glove box and drop it down so you expose the underside of your dash there is a black box about 4" wide and 6" long it has 3 different wiring harness plugs going into it that is your GEM or 4 wheel drive module. Good luck.

Looks like this is what I need for my 2003 F-350 but I'm not sure what it means by ESOF?? I have the key fob entry too.
