no vacuum at hub

hey guys, i got yet another problem with my truck. was out hunting the other day and needed to use 4x4, well it wasnt working, only worked if i locked the hubs in. then it seemed to work once in a while without the hubs locked. the ac would switch from the vents ducts to the defrost vent when the 4x4 switch was engaged as well.

anyways did some searching on here and found a few things to check, so i checked to see if my vaccum pump was working and it seems to be, then i checked for vacuum at each front hub, it seems that i have suction at the drivers side hub but none at the passenger side allthough i blew air through the hoses from up by the pump and i can feel air come through down at that hub, so the line seems clear, so i am not sure where to go from there, would something be happening under the dash maybe.

anyone esle have this problem and what did you do to fix it, and also is there anything else to check. i will keep reseaching on here as well to maybe find out inthe past what was done for the fix. also where is the vacuum pump soleniod, seems someone had a problem with that while i was searching but it never said where it was, maybe this is my problem perhaps.

Trace your lines and look for cracks/breaks. It's got to be losing vacuum someplace. There are lines under the dash as you said, so drop the kick panel under the glove box and have a look.

I had the exact same problem and yes I replaced my vacuum hub solenoid (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...sof-fixed.html) .. it's right by the vacuum reservoir, and has a vacuum line pigtail and wiring pigtail on it.

so you had vacuum on one hub and not the other as well? i will price out a solnoid on monday, and check under the kick panel tommorow for anything unusual, other than that if everything is ok, then it must be my soleniod then i guess right?

anyway to check the soleniod or bypass it to test and see if that is infact the problem??

leave truck off, unplug both vac lines from the solenoid.Connect both hoses to each other with a splicer, then start truck, flip to 4x4 and see if it works.Give it 5 mins to give it ample time to draw vac.

If it works change out you vac solenoid,if not then i would look for a leak around the hubs.Either hubs seals or hub bearing seal.
