I have seen '80s era tailgates on dentsides. You'll need to take all the mounting and latching hardware with the tailgate I've been told. Of course the body lines won't match, but it doesn't look too bad.
1967/72 F100/350 will fit 1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD and vice versa, as all the mounting hardware is the same.
The only mounting hardware from the above tailgates that's the same as 1973/79 are the R/L supports aka "scissors."
1980/82 tailgates are 1980/82 only. The scissors are made as part of the R/L latches / 1983/86 tailgates are 1983/86 only, 'gate retained by cables. 1987/91 is different again.
Left (upper): 1973/79 / Right (upper): 1980/82 (concentrate on the hardware, not what the 'gate looks like) / Left (lower): 1983/86 / Right (lower): 1987/89 same as 1990/91.
