Tailgate trouble
I have a '84 F-150. Some buttwipe stole my tailgate. I found a tailgate from a '78 F-150 in good shape with all the hardware for $25.
Question: Will the '78 tailgate fit and work on my '84?
I know the body style changed in '80 and it won't look right, but all I want is to be able to put the tailgate up and hold stuff in the bed.

I wish it had been me that stole your tailgate. Mine's in such bad shape (rusted at the hinges and the handle/latches don't work), I need a new one.
I doubt the older tailgate will work with your truck. I think the size is different (width and height). I do know for sure that a stepside tailgate won't work on a styleside box.
