64 f100 column shift

64 f100 column shift

I need to replace the shift tube on my 64 truck. I've been unable to find a replacement for it. I found one for a 65-69 but it is 1 1/2 to 2" too short. Does anyone know if the tube for the 65 would work if I could get someone to weld an extension on it? Or does anyone know where I could get a tube for a 64.

I had the same problem with my truc. i ordered a shift tube for a 65 and added a pice in it to make it the right length for the 64. havent had any problems with it.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that. I had about decided that was what I would have to do but I wasn't sure it would work. I just came in from a drive and it's shifting worse than ever ... guess I'll have to do something soon. What did you use to extend the tube? I hate to cut the original tube to ese as an extension.
