Hi all. My friends 73 highboy and my 59 f100 2wd both will need longer driveshafts. Im trying to figure out where to order one and what it will cost. Was wondering if anyone had some pointers on where to go to get one or max length a drive shaft can be because my 59 will need a long sucker and I really don't want to pay for a two piece driveshaft. At least the quote from the local driveline place seemed retarded for a dual piece shaft.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of number did the driveline guy throw at you? I would somewhat hesitate on ordering a custom driveshaft off the web because 1 it's still not going to be cheap. 2 what if its the wrong one. 3. Shipping cost will be Ridiculous.
If you go to a shop he can fit it to your truck.
Also, what is with everybody needing driveshafts lately???
Hope this helps

I recommend starting local first, things can easily be lost in translation over the phone. I dealt with High Angle Driveline on my rock crawler, and he makes by far one of the best shafts in the industry.

Just had a drive shaft with a double cardan joint custom made for my 75. So add me to the list.

200 plus parts to lengthen my old one, 500 plus parts for a new one piece, 700 plus parts for a new two piece... And they arnt even aluminum! No way in heck they should be this expensive.
Lengthening is the wrong direction if you are looking for an economical adjustment. I will find one that is too long in the junk yard an have it shortened. Then you are talking about one cut, one weld and balancing.
When I put a C6 in my 65 half ton I used a one piece driveline from an 84 F250 diesel w/C6.
I needed about 1 3/4 inches taken out and used a cross over u-joint at the pinion yoke. Cost about $150 total.
